PUSH TO ACCELERATE DRIVER MANAGEMENT
Australian based management group ‘Push Talent Management’ have announced the launch of a Junior Development Program for young drivers.
Established in 2014, Push initially launched to manage David Reynolds’ growing career. In 2016 it expanded to turn around Andre Heimgartner’s career and most recently signed rising star Chelsea Angelo, who will make a return in Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.
‘Accelerate’ is an all-new development program for young drivers coming out of karting. Just three teenagers have been signed to the agency including Cooper Murray who will compete in Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, whilst Zane Morse and 15 year old Jaylyn Robotham will compete in the Toyota 86 Racing Series.
Managing Director, John Ruggiero identified the opportunity, having experienced the challenges securing sponsorship in motorsport.
“Sponsorship has become the most important key to a future in motorsport. It’s too late when you’re 21 or 22 years of age and ready to enter Supercars, but have no sponsorship. However, if we start developing their brand, their craft, their fitness and conditioning and their commercial partnerships now, whilst they’re teenagers, they can grow with the sponsors.”
A multiple title winner in karting and last year’s CAM’s Rising Star winner, Zane Morse views it as an opportunity to learn how to work with sponsors and the media.
“I look at drivers like David Reynolds and see all the sponsors wrapped around his car and race suit, but don’t understand what’s involved. I’m looking forward to learning how to be an ambassador for brands”.
Cooper Murray is considered a future star, yet welcomes the opportunity to be amongst seasoned campaigners.
“Having mentors like Dave and Andre gives me a chance to see what their world is like. I’ll be training with them and spending time with them at track.”
Jaylyn Robotham meanwhile carved out a name for himself winning the 2017 Aussie Driver Search. Though still in school, Robotham sees the challenges ahead.
“I’m really looking forward to it…it will be great to see what it’s like in the real world of motor sport and with the help of Dave and Andre I think I will get a lot out of it .”
The Toyota 86 Racing Series kicks off April 20-22 at Phillip Island as support to Supercars, whilst Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge returns as part of the Shannons Nationals at the all-new Tailem Bend circuit, April 13-15.
