Absolutely wrapped with how my first race weekend in the Porsche GT3 Cup went! I have left ‘The Bend’ second in the Championship and couldn’t be happier!
After a successful ‘test day’ on the Thursday, I was feeling really comfortable in the car and managed to top both Practice sessions on Friday. We didn’t change too much on the car ahead of Saturday’s qualifying and although the qualifying session was cut short due to weather conditions, I had a front row start for Race 1.
I managed to bring home my GT3 Cup in 1st place for the first race of the season, pulling clear of the field and taking victory by 20 seconds. I also managed to set the fastest lap of the race on the last lap – which I was pretty stoked about!
Race 2 was cut short on Sunday after a big crash at the back of the field and I finished up 2nd after a safety car saw out majority of the race. Not quite how we wanted to end Race 2 – but it was a great learning experience nonetheless.
Sunday’s Race 3 was lots of fun – as I battled it out with Max Vidau, swapping places on a number of occasions. Unfortunately, I crossed the line in second place, just 0.2s behind Vidau, ending the weekend only six points behind the lead.
A huge thank you to Ashley Seward Motorsport for putting together an absolute rocket all weekend! Looking forward to getting back behind the wheel for Sandown 11 – 13 May!
